Overview[]
Zhang Fei's armor gives him fatigue immunity, which greatly helps him in drawn out fights. He has two unique skills: Sundering Strike and Blazing Roar. These replace the generic Flames of the Phoenix and Roar of the Beast skills. Sundering Strike is an activated attack that has a much smaller area of effect than FLames of the Phoenix, but it has an extremely short cooldown to make up for it, and debuffs the target. Blazing Roar is similar to Roar of the Beast, but it is single use only, and instantaneously routs any opponent (unless they are unbreakable). This means that Zhang Fei can potentially rout an entire army by himself if they are bunched up enough. Zhang Fei is best accompanied by cavalry, which can encourage routed units to stay routed after roaring at them.
Zhang Fei is oathsworn with Liu Bei and Guan Yu. Should any of the individual sworn brothers fall, the rest recover health and gain considerable stat buffs. This makes Zhang Fei even more dangerous than his stats suggest.
Biography[]
Zhang Fei first appears around the outbreak of the Yellow Turban Rebellion, linking up with both Liu Bei and Guan Yu alongside a handful of militias to serve as a roaming warband protecting the peasantry against the rebels. During this time, as well as the years to follow, the three grew perhaps the tightest friendship in all of China at the time, treating each other as brothers in all but name. Together with Guan Yu, Fei served as Liu Bei's friend, advisor, subordinate, and bodyguard at the same time.
Liu Bei would hit a run of bad luck in the late 190s, however, and during his escape north to the lands of Yuan Shao after his defeat at the hands of Cao Cao, Zhang Fei briefly disappears from the history books as he simply went missing. When he one day stumbled into the court of Liu Bei once more, the warlord threw a massive celebration.
Despite some close encounters, Zhang Fei continued to serve his friend and master until he finally managed to establish a stable territory for himself with the aid of Sun Quan. He spent the following years as a general under Liu Bei, who secured a large portion of western China under his banner. This power became too much for Sun Quan, who broke the alliance and had Guan killed, sparking bloodlust in both of his friends.
At the order of Liu Bei, Zhang Fei gathered a sizeable army to fight Sun Quan but was ultimately betrayed and killed in his sleep, as his own officers defected to Sun Quan's side shortly after.
