Zeal[]
Zeal is the faction resource of Zhang Bao, Zhang Jue, and Zhang Liang. It is gained by their collective deeds and shared between the three brothers. Zeal can be gained through winning battles and taking territory from Han factions. In the specific case of Zhang Liang, Zeal is further increased when fighting defensive battles. Zeal ranges from a minimum of 0 to a maximum of 600 and is divided into five tiers. Zhang Liang gains a bonus to peasantry income on top of the default effects.
The five tiers of Zeal are as follows:

Starting Situation[]
Mandate of Heaven (182)[]
Zhang Liang is the watchful giant, a sentinel who will hold the line, and his beliefs, against any and all enemies. He, along with his brothers, set to easing the pain of a suffering people by preaching a better way, then mobilising them into a force capable of toppling the corrupt regime. Although an imposing figure, Zhang Liang knows that only together that they will be able to strike the fatal blow that will tear down the Azure Sky forever and lead to a greater future for China.
Start: Hard
Zhang Liang starts the Mandate of Heaven campaign at war as a landless faction in Wei commandery. He has, arguably, the worst start of the Zhang brothers. His personal bonuses on Zeal are worse than his brothers', and his position makes him the first target of the majority of Han Empire factions. While he can contend with Lu Zhi relatively easily, as the Mandate War launches, he may find himself under attack by additional forces under Liu Bei, Liu Hong, Liu Chong, and a myriad of smaller Imperial armies, which may overwhelm him with numbers. Generally, Liang's role is that of a defensive buffer faction, holding back the tide of Imperial soldiers while his brothers to the north expand the territory of the Yellow Turban Rebellion against their relatively weak neighbours.
