For the character, see Zhang Lu
Zhang Lu is a non-playable faction in Total War: Three Kingdoms. It starts the campaign in central China, located in Hanzhong commandery. The faction appears in 190, 194, and 200. Gaining a rank as a duke, king, or emperor will rename the faction to Hanning.
Unique Features[]
Zhang Lu isn't a playable faction and therefore doesn't have any unique units, buildings, or features.
Starting Situation[]
Rise of the Warlords (190)[]
Zhang Lu starts the campaign in Hanzhong commandery. He is at war with Yellow Turban Warlord Gong Du to his west. While outnumbered, Gong Du also fights Ma Teng nearby, which should relieve some pressure off Zhang Lu. His options to expand are extremely limited, as he is at peace with the Han Empire. Zhang Lu could establish order in Jiameng Pass nearby, which lies abandoned.
A World Betrayed (194)[]
Zhang Lu starts the World Betrayed campaign in Hanzhong commandery. He is at peace and his territory has grown with one county. Zhang Lu now finds himself a vassal under the power-hungry governor Liu Yan and is unlikely to break free. He will probably remain a vassal during the campaign or be confederated by Liu Yan at some point.

Fates Divided (200)[]
Zhang Lu starts the Fates Divided campaign in Shangyong commandery. He is at war with Liu Zhang, Liu Yan's successor, after a disagreement between the two. While severely outnumbered by the pacifistic governor, Zhang Lu can hold on as he did in real life by defending the chokepoints of the mountains, as there are only two places for Liu Zhang to attack. The AI is unlikely to do this, however, and will probably be defeated by Liu Zhang unless he finds aid.
