The Zhengguo canal, is a canal located in northern Jingzhao commandery built in 246BC. It's one of the ancient irrigation system in China and provides ancient Qin empire stable water source for agriculture. The canal is designed by hydraulic engineer Zheng Guo, hence the name.

  • The game description for Zhengguo canal quotes "conceived to ruin a kingdom", which is based on the historical monumental book named Records of the Grand Historian
    • The canal was designed by Zheng Guo in Warring States period. Zheng Guo was a spy sent by Han Kingdom to Qin Kingdom. Zheng Guo as an engineer suggested Qin Shi Huang to build the canal for disrupting the Qin military budget. When the canal is closer to be finished, the truth was realized, and Qin Shi Huang intended to kill Zheng Guo, but Zheng Guo said: ‘At first I was acting in order to cause dissension, but when the canal is completed it will surely be a benefit to Qin.’ Qin King thought this was true, so in the end had the progress on the canal continued. The canal indeed greatly benefit agriculture in Qin.
